Amidst all the hype spread out in the Sunday dailies about the Pacquiao – Cotto Welterweight Championship bout, HS 76 batchmate Mike Miñana made news, being featured as “the man behind the Malacañang state dinners“ in PDI’s Sunday Lifestyle Section. What made the article most noteworthy was that Mike’s events company (ThemeWorks) had as its first project our HS Batch’s 25th Homecoming celebration!
Another interesting note is that Mike got the call to stage the Malacañang events through the referral of “a former classmate (who) was an assistant to the chief of staff of the President.” (maybe referring to Asec. Bong Joves?!) A man with a keen eye for details and the right setting for the right occassion, Mike certainly has made his mark in the industry having handled events for such noted people as Jaime Augusto Zobel’s 50th birthday bash. Mike was also head of the technical team and security of the much-publicized Mar Roxas – Korina Sanchez nuptials. He accredits his success to his love for the job: “I love my work and even now, I’m still learning.” Kudos to you, Mike!
P.S. Mike mentioned in the article that “there are events that are food for the pocket, and events that are food for the soul.” I wonder which category our 25th Homecoming fell under? hehehe . . .
Editor’s notes:
- Mike’s company, is called ThemeWorks.
- Mike Miñana was once featured by Boy Abunda in his column in the Philippine Star.
