Fittingly, this Sunday’s sermon delivered by Father Dennis talked about unity! I could not help but comment we chose the right day to close ranks and say a prayer for our sick, recovering, and departed friends and relatives. We are united in our desires for the best for our kin and each other!

Thanks to Jed, Agu, Luke and Timmy for helping make our 1st 5th Sunday batch mass a success. Pemcy’s Arroz Caldo hit the spot nicely and she even threw in an extra 200 pcs. of siomai. That was a very kind gesture on her part. Thanks also go out to Ludie and the alumni staff for helping make sure we had everything we needed.
We also had the great fortune of having the Kundirana with Montet Acoymo for the Choir. Doc. Gilbert’s son is a member of the Kundirana so tho we missed doc… he was represented by his son. Of course it would not be batch ’76 without some antics somewhere and of all places… in the Offertory procession. It all started with Dingdong whispering to me, asking if he could open the chalice and take a peek inside, to which I replied… only if we drink some of the wine I was holding first. Fortunately, Father Dennis did not hear us or I figure he would have squirmed when he blessed us. Now if Hans had joined… we would definitely have not gotten blessed as Father Dennis hands would have spontaneously combusted before he could complete the blessing.
It was good to see Nick T. and Jed T., present as they are amongst those prayed for. Jed’s scars still evident and his careful walk was all that betrayed his recent operation. His spirits were high and good. Guess that’s what happens when a grandfather has his grand daugther in tow? Nick was good too and it showed around the waist. The unexpected surprise of the event has to be Mel David who appeared out of nowhere but stayed with us thru out!
It’s too bad Romi Beza could not attend. He’s in town and there are plans afoot to have a mounting of the troops on 4 June 2010, but I’ll let B’day boy Bong J. handle that announcement.
All in all it was a subdued but pleasant affair and as always, its always good to reunite with batch mates.
Also raised was the suggestion to host a family day for the batch. Bro. Bobby was gracious enough to suggest LSGH as the venue so we can have some events/activities followed by a poolside BBQ and swimming to cool off and cap the days festivities. Indeed a great idea with much potential for bonding with batch mates and our kids as well as the spouses. LSGH has badminton courts, basketball courts and volleyball courts all in the covered area so these 3 popular sports can easily be accommodated a stones throw away from the pool which will be a welcome respite in between, before and after games!
Can’t wait to smoke and drink on campus again…. without fearing getting collared and dragged to the principals office with Mom and Dad being summoned! Ah… maturity, hope I never have to take it too seriously!
